Understanding Chronic Pain Syndrome & Fibromyalgia

What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), is a complex, multi-system condition characterized by profound fatigue that lasts longer than six months, is not relieved by rest, and cannot be fully explained by an underlying medical condition. Individuals with CFS often experience a significant decline in daily function and may have unpredictable “crash” periods after physical or emotional exertion.

What Is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain sensitivity disorder that frequently overlaps with CFS. It is marked by widespread musculoskeletal pain, heightened pain perception, and tenderness in specific areas of the body. The discomfort can vary from burning and aching to deep throbbing sensations, and is often accompanied by fatigue, brain fog, and poor sleep quality.

Diagnosing CFS & Fibromyalgia

There is currently no single lab test to definitively diagnose CFS or Fibromyalgia. Instead, diagnosis is made through a comprehensive evaluation of symptoms, combined with the elimination of other possible conditions.

Functional medicine practitioners often identify underlying contributors, which may include:

  • Immune system dysregulation

  • Chronic viral or bacterial infections

  • Hormonal imbalances (especially adrenal and thyroid)

  • Past trauma or emotional stress

  • Mold or biotoxin exposure

  • Mitochondrial dysfunction

  • Nutrient depletion

Because these conditions often affect multiple systems at once, a root-cause approach is essential for meaningful relief and healing.

Common Symptoms

Symptoms vary from person to person in intensity, duration, and triggers. Many patients report delayed recovery after exertion or illness, and describe periods of “crashing” after stress.

Commonly reported symptoms include:

  • Persistent fatigue

  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating

  • Headaches

  • Sore throat

  • Muscle and joint pain

  • Swollen or tender lymph nodes

  • Dizziness upon standing (orthostatic intolerance)

  • Non-restorative sleep

  • Mood changes, including depression or anxiety

Functional Treatment for CFS & Fibromyalgia

At DeLucia Vitality, we take a personalized, multi-layered approach to managing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Rather than masking symptoms, we aim to restore energy, reduce inflammation, and support the systems most affected—starting at the root.

Treatment options may include:

᯽ IV Nutrient Therapy
Delivers vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants directly to your cells for mitochondrial support and immune function.

᯽ Peptide Therapy
Uses small proteins to support healing, repair, and cellular communication—often improving energy and resilience.

 Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Optimizes hormone levels (especially thyroid, cortisol, and sex hormones) to reduce fatigue and support whole-body balance.

᯽ NAD+ Infusions
Restores mitochondrial health, enhances brain function, and supports energy metabolism at the cellular level.

᯽Low Dose Immunotherapy (LDI)
Helps retrain the immune system to tolerate chronic triggers and reduce sensitivity to environmental or internal stressors.
